Crime Stoppers is a community organization that pays cash awards for successful tips on unsolved crimes. Crime Stoppers is a combined effort of the police, media and the public to solve crime in the City of Brandon. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards up to $2000 for information that leads to the solution of a crime.
Crime Stoppers is based on the principal that someone other than the criminal has information that can solve a crime and was created to combat the three major problems faced by law enforcement in generating that information: fear of reprisal, an attitude of apathy and the reluctance to get involved. Crime Stoppers solves these problems by offering anonymity to people who provide information about crimes and paying rewards when the information supplied leads to arrest.
The Crime Stoppers board is comprised of private citizens, media, business representatives and members of the Chamber of Commerce, who manage the business operations of the Brandon Crime Stoppers Program.
